Statistics never lie, they just deliver conflicting truths

Have you ever noticed how much our world runs on statistics? That's because statistics never lie, of course. So I am here to offer help with statistics – to sort out all those conflicting truths. Here are a few very alarming statistics. Almost half of the world's population earns a below-average income.

Can’t I eat alone?

Saturday, the 8th, was a crazy day - actually, the afternoon was crazy. I left home with some relatives for the first birthday party of a second cousin's kid (see, that's crazy enough), and to our bad luck, we got stuck in the second worst traffic jam in the history of Bangalore (the first being on Monday the 17th) due to repair work undertaken by the civic authorities at Brigade Road junction. So bad was the traffic pile up that it took us all of 2 hours to cover a little over 2 KM, I kid you not! We left home at 12 and got to another relatives place at 2, instead of 12:15 or 12:20, and we still had another 12 KM to go. So I got off and said I'm walking back home, and asked the rest to continue.

Enough of July 4ths.

To the citizens of the United States of America, in the light of your failure to elect a competent President of the USA from 2001 to 2009 and thus to govern yourselves and make the world a lot more unsafe, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective today. Mumbai attacks: A cynic’s take

Posted on 01 December 2008

I'm writing this post well past midnight, when the terrorist attack in Mumbai enters it's third day - more than 48 hours later, more than 160 dead bodies and more than 250 injured. Where have we gone wrong? Well, in fact, that in itself is a wrong question, because the real question is where haven't we gone wrong? The attack actually shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to us because there are so many holes in the existing apparatus (and mind you, I say holes, and not just loopholes). The Taj Mahal hotel still burns, but the scars that this latest attack will leave on the families will be permanent. I say only families because the rest of the hoi polloi will forget about all of this by the end of next week and we're all going to go back and forget about the necessities lacking by our men in uniform. Monogamy or Monotony?

Posted on 24 November 2008

I realize that it is a somewhat frightening experience for the man who has just learnt that his girlfriends have found out, from his mistress, about his wife. A man in such a situation can only beg, grovel, or secretly cross the country border on a desert mule if he is to get out alive of the situation. We all know, ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’… so imagine the scenario when there’s more than one woman involved. Poor fellow… he literally doesn’t know what hit him… [A lot of stilettos and Chanel bags are being flung at him, it’s hard to tell.] Continue Reading

It’s simple, if it jiggles, it’s fat!

Posted on 17 November 2008

I am not talking about jiggling that. But if you are relatively non-repulsive to look at (or even average) and have a webcam ready, do use the contact us page to send in photos and videos. We will not post it on our website, but it will give us great motivation to write better(and trust me, we need to start writing better). Anyway, enough about good looking people, this post is dedicated to all people overweight and above the national average weight. Continue Reading
